The Honduran Post-Storm Reef Response Brigades course “Rapid Response and Emergency Reef Restoration” course was held in Roatan, Honduras from March 15-18.
This is the eighth course of a series of training that MAR Fund and The Nature Conservancy have conducted in the MAR region. The courses aim to create response capacity at key reef sites for emergency response after reefs are impacted by hurricanes and storms.
There were 12 participants from the Bay Islands, including expert divers, protected area managers, rangers, tourism operators and community members who are also collaborators of local organizations such as the Bay Islands Tourism Free Zone Administrative Commission (ZOLITUR), the Bay Islands Ecological Conservation Association (BICA), Roatan Marine Park and Roatan Divers, to name a few.
The training was carried out in close collaboration and support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MiAmbiente+) and the National Institute of Forest Conservation and Development, Protected Areas and Wildlife (ICF).
