New York Climate Week is an annual event that brings together world leaders, activists, scientists, businesses, and citizens to address the climate crisis and promote sustainable solutions. Typically held in September, it aligns with the United Nations General Assembly, giving it a global focus and significant visibility.
In this edition of Climate Week, the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA) held a meeting with over 90 members committed to finding innovative solutions for the climate crisis. This gathering was key in fostering radical collaborations that drive meaningful change in the blue economy and investment towards a regenerative and sustainable ocean.
Claudia Ruiz, representing MAR Fund, participated in the Funder Advisory Board meeting, as well as in panels and workshops, where she shared the outcomes of the Mesoamerican Reef Insurance Programme, an innovative product that reflects our commitment to protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.
Her presentation highlighted innovations and lessons learned, opening doors to new collaboration opportunities with organizations interested in investing in the Blue Economy.
One of the panels addressed risk reduction and strengthening resilience through insurance.
MAR Fund’s participation in these events represents a valuable opportunity to contribute to the discussions that will guide the United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2025 and the Blue Economy Finance Forum in Monaco.
These initiatives are crucial to advancing towards a future where marine life thrives, coastal communities are resilient, and constructive dialogue fosters positive change in global environmental policy.
