Introduction and Background<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Mesoamerican Reef (MAR) is the largest coral reef system in the Atlantic Ocean, stretching more than 1,000 kilometers along the coastline of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras, with an estimated economic value of over USD 4.5 billion and supporting more than 2 million inhabitants in the region. MAR Fund implements the Reef Rescue Initiative (RRI), which since 2017 has supported the Reef Restoration Network of the MAR (MAR-RRN)\u2014a regional knowledge-exchange platform originally created in 2012 by Oceanus A.C. The Network is managed by an Executive Committee under established bylaws and a Strategic Plan for 2021\u20132026. Following a comprehensive 2025 diagnostic, MAR Fund will contract a consultant to facilitate communication among Network members through management of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coralmar.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.coralmar.org<\/a>, social media, and other communication tools.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<strong>2. Objective of the consultancy<\/strong><br \/>\nThe main objective of this consultancy is to facilitate and promote knowledge exchange and enhance communication among members of the Reef Restoration Network of the MAR (MAR-RRN) through the management and continuous updating of the Network&#8217;s website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coralmar.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.coralmar.org<\/a>, and other communication tools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Main Activities<\/strong><br \/>\nThe consultant shall carry out the following activities:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Develop and implement a comprehensive work plan that highlights and describes the activities carried out during this consultancy, highlighting the main products to be developed in support of the MAR-RRN.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the regular update of the Network&#8217;s website, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coralmar.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.coralmar.org<\/a>, by uploading information relevant to the Network&#8217;s mission and of interest to its members.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain regular communication with the website&#8217;s webmaster, and oversee the maintenance and regular updating of the website.<\/li>\n<li>Look for content and key material to showcase the work of the Network and to raise interest among members, and make sure the webmaster receives this information to ensure timely publication and updates on the website.<\/li>\n<li>Produce and publish the network&#8217;s monthly newsletters, ensuring to include important news, events, results, key achievements and content generated by the Network.<\/li>\n<li>Produce informative notes based on relevant MAR-RRN information, as needed to share important news and disseminate relevant information.<\/li>\n<li>Create and manage social media updates for the Network&#8217;s social media to highlight the work of the network and share relevant information with members and the general public.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and maintain the Network&#8217;s distribution list (listserve), ensuring accurate member information and effective distribution of materials and communications to all members.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the MAR-RRN resource library updated, including all information related to reef restoration and conservation (e.g., restoration protocols, technical guides, research papers, and others).<\/li>\n<li>Identify MAR-RRN members&#8217; success stories from the field using photos and videos to showcase impact through informative notes, newsletters, and other materials approved by the Executive Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support for network events, webinars, and other activities by producing communication assets such as save-the-date notices, informative notes, participant lists, and online webinar registrations.<\/li>\n<li>Track engagement metrics (e.g., open rates, event attendance, member growth), submit advance reports to the Executive Committee and MAR Fund as required, and ensure adjustments requested are implemented.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<strong>4. Duration of contract<\/strong><br \/>\nThe consultancy shall be implemented over a period of 12 months from the date of contract signature.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Submission of Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All deliverables shall be submitted in electronic format only, via email to <a href=\"mailto:cocana@marfund.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cocana@marfund.org<\/a> copying <a href=\"mailto:mjavila@marfund.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mjavila@marfund.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>All deliverables shall be submitted in editable formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). PDFs will not be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>All deliverables shall be prepared in English and Spanish.<\/li>\n<li>MAR Fund shall create a SharePoint site or shared drive to facilitate submission of the deliverables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6. Products to be delivered<\/strong><br \/>\nThe consultant shall deliver the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A detailed timeline outlining key milestones, deliverables, and proposed methodology.<\/li>\n<li>Quarterly progress reports summarizing activities, engagement metrics, and challenges, including: three monthly newsletters distributed, minimum 15\u201320 posts published on the Network&#8217;s website, updated listserve, one documented success story with photos and video, and resource library updated with 1\u20132 new resources per quarter if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>A final annual report consolidating all activities, achievements, and engagement metrics (website traffic, newsletter performance, member growth), including lessons learned and recommendations for the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>7. Financial Conditions<\/strong><br \/>\nProfessional fees will be negotiated based on the consultant&#8217;s qualifications, experience, and availability. Payments shall include professional fees, applicable taxes, and any banking charges, and will be processed on a quarterly basis upon satisfactory submission and approval of each deliverable. Travel costs, when necessary, will be covered separately upon MAR Fund approval.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Key Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Communications, Journalism, Environmental Education, or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Based in the MAR region, with strong familiarity with the regional coral restoration community. If based in Mexico, the consultant must reside in Quintana Roo.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 3 years of proven experience in conducting the activities described in this ToR.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with similar projects or organizations, preferably in the environmental non-profit sector.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in social media management and website administration.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the specific sector relevant to the consultancy (e.g., coastal marine ecosystem restoration, environmental networks).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>9. Required documentation<\/strong><br \/>\nThe consultant shall provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>R\u00e9sum\u00e9 or CV describing relevant experience.
